Andrea Marie Summa

Andrea Marie Summa, born March 13, 1956 was called home to our lord Jesus Christ and her Loved ones on December 21, 2021.   She was born here in Mescalero, New Mexico and lived here all her life. 

Andrea is preceded in death by her parents William and Pauline Kaydahzinne, her sons Leland and Richard Jr., brothers Freddie, Vincent, Merwin and sisters Bernandette and Teresa Kaydahzinne.

Andrea was well known for her beautiful Mescalero Apache Burden Basket. Throughout her life she made and provided many of her baskets for the Coming of Age Ceremonies.  Also Andrea was a very caring and accomplished homemaker. She loved her time spent with her family gathering the materials and the time spent weaving the baskets.  She cherished this traditional technique that was passed down to her by her mother Pauline and grandmother Helen Chatto, who was the wife of Chatto, who was a Warrior and Scout.  Andrea liked to travel while listening to music, especially music by her brothers Freddie and Vincent. Andrea was well known by her family to be dedicated to her faith and daily worship.  

Andrea is survived by her husband of 48 years Richard Sr. and son Matthew Summa, sisters Lenore Vasile, Birdena and Velda Kaydahzinne as well as many nieces and nephews.

As Andrea would always say, " Leave it to God and it will be okay".

Graveside service will be held Friday, December 24th at 10:00 AM at the Mescalero Cemetery.

The Summa family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the services.
