Anna Morris

Anna Leigh Morris of Mayhill, NM and Crane, TX passed away on January 29, 2023. Anna is survived by her children, Bryan and Tojia Morris of Mayhill, NM; Ronnie and Melody Porter of Alto, NM; Bill and Debbie Morris of Crane, TX and Joe and Misty Thomas of Leonard, TX.   She is survived by 14 grandchildren and their spouses, 38 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren as well as many long time friends. She is also survived by her sisters, Rachel Taylor and Tammy Alexander of Plainview, TX and Mary Black of San Antonio, TX.  

Anna was an amazing person who could smile through anything. She was kind hearted and shared her positive attitude with everyone she knew.  

A young Anna, known as Punky, was the oldest daughter of a farming family and on many occasions took the opportunity to tell us stories of her busting watermelons with her friends out on the farm.   

A young/ older aged Anna, sometimes known as Squaw by her husband, raised 4 kids and helped to build a place that we can all still refer to as home. She never waivered. She was strength and kindness all in one beautiful person.    

An older Anna could be seen riding old Twisty out at the stables, helping her husband refurbish their place in Crane and then taking care of him when it was his time. Again, she never waivered. She was so strong and showed us all how to handle adversity.   

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Morris, her brother, Thomas Henderson and her youngest sister, Charla Cook.    

“We know Mom is with Jesus now and is dancing and singing with all the family and friends that preceded her. Knowing that, will get us through this hard time. “   

A visitation service will be held at Scenic Chapel (1334 N Scenic Drive) on Friday, February 3rd from 3 till 7 PM.

Graveside service will be at James Canyon Cemetery Saturday, February 4th at 10 AM.

The Morris family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
