Bradley Reed Walker Lewis

Bradley Reed Walker Lewis was born December 12, 1986, in El Paso, Texas the third of four brothers.  He was washed in the “Blood”, Baptized by one of his dearest friends, Pastor Erik Yeary. Pastor Erik was not only Brads Pastor and friend. He introduced him to the Arboriculture industry, where he found his niche which became a huge part of Brads life during these last years.

Brad had the unique ability to connect with anyone he came into contact with. He never knew a stranger. He loved life and lived it robustly. Always athletic as a boy he loved playing football, wrestling, bull riding and snowboarding, which he was very successful at and won a whole closet full of trophies, belt buckles, ribbons, and plaques. Following high school, he set his sights on a career as a professional bull rider. He was a member of the Professional Bull Riders Assoc., competing at top levels of the sport before retiring due to injuries, going to work for his older brother David in the pipeline construction business where he operated heavy equipment on oil and gas lines in southern NM and west TX until he moved back to Colorado and started work as an intern/arbor culturist studying for his arborist license.

Most people were not aware that Brad had been fighting cancer for nine years. He had been in remission, but it came back with an overwhelming vengeance. Brad made the decision to stop treatment, as the cancer was resistant to chemo and radiation. He moved from St. Anthony’s Hospital to Denver Hospice in Patient Care Center. He spent about two weeks there, capturing the hearts of all the nursing staff. There he celebrated his 34th birthday with a few family and friends and the next morning around daylight he left with the angels to start his new journey. Brad is loved and will be missed by friends and family.

Brad was preceded in death by his Grandparents Henry & Billie Walker and is survived by his parents Bill & Debbie Lewis, Gary & Terri Michael, brothers David Lewis, Cody Lewis, Stetson and Catrina Lewis, grandparents Pete and Minnie Lewis. Bradley was an inspiration to so many people and touched so many lives in his short time here with us. He will be missed by so many and thought of often, remembering his beautiful smile and up beat personality. So, with a fond but heartfelt farewell we say “Adieu” Brad Lewis until we meet again on Gods Heavenly Shore.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, July 24 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
