Dixie Wienand

Dixie Beth Wienand, age 86, passed away on November 18, 2021, in Alamogordo, NM.  She was born on December 31, 1934, in Hattiesburg, MS, to Daniel Cread Weddle and Ethel Mae (Williams) Weddle.  She was the 11th of 13 children.

She met her husband Marlin Wienand while in nursing school in Pierre, SD, and married on January 25, 1955.  They first lived in Wichita, KS, and moved to Alamogordo in 1968. 
 
Dixie was a cosmetologist proudly serving hundreds of local clients for over 30 years.  She owned and operated Dixie’s Beauty Salon in La Luz, NM.   She also worked at other salons including Ann’s Beauty Shop in Alamogordo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin, and by 11 of her siblings.  Survivors include her children, Joe (Susan) Wienand of Conifer, CO; Marcus (Louise) Wienand of Tularosa, NM; Debra Wienand of Tucson, AZ; her grandchildren, SSgt Dustin Wienand of Alamogordo; Cody (Trish) Wienand of Alamogordo; step-grandchildren, Misty (Arthur) Smallwood of Tularosa; Tesa (William) Jones of Tularosa; Jason Melton of La Luz; and Daniel (Kim) Melton of Bakersfield, CA; twin great-grandsons Odin and Matthias Wienand (sons of Cody and Trish) of Alamogordo; one sister, Eileen Blackburn of Wyoming, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the great staff at Aristocrat Assisted Living Center in Alamogordo and Physical Therapist Traci and dog Shaggy for their TLC during Dixie’s stay.

A memorial service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1212 Washington Ave, Alamogordo, NM, 88310, on December 10, 2021, at 3:00pm.  

The Wienand family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
