Frank G. Borunda Jr., 65, of Alamogordo, went to be with Our Lord Thursday August 26, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Frank managed his illness with strength and grace, and spent as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final days, he was surrounded by his loving wife, daughters and their spouses, and his grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything else in the world.
Frank was born on March 10, 1956 to Frank and Juanita Borunda. He married Patricia, the love of his life, in 1976, who survives him in 45 years of marriage. Frank is also survived by daughters, Jeanette Borunda (Nathaniel Lukas Redekopp), Jennifer Borunda-Ramirez (Louie Ramirez), Jessica Borunda-Salsberry (Anthony Salsberry), and Linda Cox-Borunda (Melissa Cox-Borunda); grandsons Michael Borunda, Dominic Borunda-Ramirez, and AJ Borunda-Salsberry; siblings Sandra (Nick), Ronnie (Stella), Adolfo, Ray (DayleRae), Donna (Jim), and David (Krishna); mother-in-law Erlinda Garcia, brothers-in-law Tony (Vivian), Greg (Stephanie), sister-in-law Judy, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Juanita Borunda, sister Diane Borunda, father-in-law Tony Garcia, and brother-in-law David Garcia.
Known as Coach B to many, Frank coached football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and wrestling. Not only did he coach all of his daughters in several sports, but also coached numerous youth throughout his 45-year-long coaching career. Coach B coached Cloudcroft Bear football for 20 years and Alamogordo Tiger baseball for 13 years.
Frank was retired from Otero County Electric Cooperative, whom the family wishes to thank for their generosity during the time of Frank’s illness.
