Michael Anthony Snyder

Michael Anthony Snyder, 18, passed away on January 16, 2023 in La Luz, New Mexico. He was born on August 15, 2004 in Mountain Home, Idaho to Timothy Melvin Snyder and Ruth Ellen (Davis) Snyder.

Michael was a senior in high school in the K12 homeschool curriculum with a goal to pursue an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Technology at New Mexico State University.  While continuing his studies, Michael also participated in the hockey 18U house league for the El Paso Rhinos youth program. In July of 2022, he won Most Improved Player at the Air Force Academy Hockey Camp.

With a contagious smile and witty sense of humor, Michael always lit up a room the moment he walked in. His beloved hobbies included playing on his Xbox and building grand Lego sets with his brothers and dad. Mike also loved hiking with his sister and watching various sporting events with his family. But Michael’s genuine passion was simple: speed. He loved adventuring on his go-cart or four wheeler at Red Sands Off-Highway Vehicle area and around his home in La Luz.

Survivors include his parents; his brothers, Matthew Snyder, Melvin Snyder; sister, Michelle Snyder; grandparents, Beatrice and Pete McCleary; cousins, Cheryl Snyder, Kyle Snyder, McKenzie Gilbert (Snyder); second cousins, Kimmie Gatzke, Josh Gatzke, Joie Jean Gilbert; uncles, Todd Snyder, Jim Snyder; niece, Cadence Snyder; nephew, Colton Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Betty Davis, grandfather Samuel Melvin Snyder, and Uncle Terry Mark Snyder.

The Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. MST Saturday, January 21st at Scenic Chapel with James H. Hamblen officiating.

The Snyder family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
