Pastor Malcolm Chiles Obituary

 

Pastor Malcolm Avery Chiles, 60, of Westminster, CO, formerly of Alamogordo, NM, entered into Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Aurora, CO folloing complications from Covid-19.

Malcolm was born June 19, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Lillian Chiles and Joseph Hall. His family moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1972 and he graduated from Susan Miller Dorsey High School in 1979.

On July 26, 1979, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a Tactical Aircraft Specialist, stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, NM. He was honorably discharged on July 25, 1983. He was decorated with the Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He married Claudia Zinke on Sept. 26, 1981, and the couple celebrated their 40th anniversary this year. In July of 1982, they welcomed their first child, Joshua and in December 1983, Claudia gave birth to their 2nd child, Malah.

He was a truck driver for Waste Management, Southwest Disposal, Coca-Cola and Airgas and over the years made many lifelong friendships. In 2016, Malcolm pioneer pastored The Potter's House Christian Fellowship Church in Westminster/Northglenn, CO, which he was pastoring at the time of his death.

Malcolm gave his life to Jesus as a young airman at The Potter's House Christian Fellowship Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1980. He loved serving in various ministries to reach people for Jesus including bands, a bible study leader, serving on the church council and leading the worship team within the church. He and his wife and two children also formed a music ministry rap group called Urban Soldierz. The group performed in parades, special events and at their church for over 20 years.

Malcolm was very close with his children and his grandchildren. Favorite memories from his grandchildren included swimming in the local area, camping, riding bikes, going on vacations together and spending time at local amusement parks. Family memories from his sister, Sheila Chiles, include a young Malcolm playing in the snow in Ohio and playing pranks on his two younger sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Chiles, now of Alamogordo, NM; his son Joshua (Ana) Chiles; his daughter, Malah (David) Quinlan, and grandchildren, Josiah, Carter and Madison Quinlan, and Omar Chiles, all of Alamogordo; his sister, Sheila Chiles and his brother, Byron (Eula) Chiles, all of Los Angeles, CA; aunts, Susan, Juanita and Wilma; uncles, Richard, Robert and Charles; nephew, Byron Christopher, and nieces, Shea (Stephen), Kyla and Anaiya; great-nephews, Adonijah and Moses; and great-niece, Ezrah; sisters-in-law, Jeannette Dehling, Laurie Petruska and Mary Jane Schmudlach, two brothers-in-law, John Zinke and Mike Zinke; many other nieces and nephews, family and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, John and Jane Zinke; his sister, Tanya Chiles, his brother, Timothy Chiles; his uncle, Bobby; his aunt, Rachel; his brother-in-law, Eugene Dehling and sister-in-law, Roseann Zinke.

Memorial services for Pastor Malcolm Chiles will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2021, at The Potter's House Christian Fellowship Church, 1515 N. Florida Ave., Alamogordo, NM. Pastor Bob McGinnas will officiate. The service will be live-streamed via thepottershousealamo.com. A reception will be held following the memorial at the Sgt. Willie Estrada Memorial Civic Center, 800 E. 1st St., in Alamogordo, NM. Everyone who knew Malcolm is encouraged to attend.
