Thelma Ruth Walker, 96, passed away on March 22, 2026, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on June 10, 1929, in James Canyon, New Mexico, to George Gordon Wimsatt Sr. and Johnnie Alice Rhodes Wimsatt.
She had a full life together with the love of her life, Charles R. Walker. For over 78 years they worked together ranching, cooking, hunting, and reading the Bible together. She was a great hunter, musician, cook, and gardener. She was an excellent follower of Christ and loved God, her country, her family, and her many friends.
She faithfully supported the Christadelphian faith, NM Cattle Grower’s Association, the Lincoln Forest Grazing Advisory Board, Otero County Cattleman’s Association, Otero County Grazing Advisory Board, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, Otero County Farm Bureau, and the Lincoln Forest Allotment Owners Association. She and Charles donated land and helped with the 16 Springs Fire Department.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Wells (husband Foye Wells); grandchildren, Shawna Wells (husband Chris Huzdovich), Troy Wells (wife Dana Wells); great-grandchildren, Moriah Cubwell (husband Lachie Cubbin), Caleb Martin, Charlie Wells; and great-great-grandson, Aslan Cubwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Walker; father, George Gordon Wimsatt Sr.; mother, Johnnie Alice Rhodes Wimsatt; brothers, George Gordon Wimsatt Jr. and James Edgar Wimsatt; and sisters, Ella May Pattison and Eleanor Lorene Sensing.
She is now asleep in Christ, waiting for Christ’s return, the resurrection, and the restoration of the Kingdom of God on the earth.
She will be laid to rest in a graveside service at the 16 Springs Canyon Cemetery on April 18 at 3:00 pm. All are welcome.
Pallbearers include Tom McLaughlin, Joe Castelline, Shawna Wells, Moriah Cubwell, Caleb Martin, Charlie Wells.

The Walker family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
